Easter is nearly here and I am excited. For me Easter is strongly connected to the weather changing and the feel of the warming temperatures. This spring, with all the terrifying uncertainty in the world around us, it is nice to have something more familiar and comforting to look forward to.
While I have been staring out the window and daydreaming of spring walks in the “furuskog” over the fjord, I have also been busy experimenting with my painting. Before the lockdown here in Norway I had joined the local spelemannslag. There were so many hardingfele there – it was very cool! Somehow all those fiddles ended up coming into my head when planning a new subject to draw, and so I created this fiddle lesson scene. In my mind, the older woman is a travelling tutor who has hiked up to this mountain farm do some teaching for the local farmer’s children.
